Teens Act Mentor positions (year-long commitment preferred)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/byuinternships.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Teens-Act.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-643\" src=\"http:\/\/byuinternships.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Teens-Act-269x300.png\" alt=\"Teens Act\" width=\"269\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/byuinternships.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Teens-Act-269x300.png 269w, http:\/\/byuinternships.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Teens-Act.png 380w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 269px) 100vw, 269px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Teens Act Mentoring Positions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide homework guidance (especially in math), feedback, and resources to students in a one-on-one correspondence<\/li>\n<li>Assist the teacher by motivating students to have high expectations and reach goals, including maintaining grades, attendance, and achieving the milestones of the class<\/li>\n<li>Keep track of students\u2019 performance and report to a Teens Act teacher and Teens Act supervisors<\/li>\n<li>Attend weekly team meetings with your assigned school (PHS or IHS)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be able to mentor students during the College Preparation Class daily or every other day (depending on which school you work in)<\/li>\n<li>Strong math skills in order to help students with math homework<\/li>\n<li>Education major students (especially Secondary Education), strongly preferred<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience in teaching, mentoring, or working with at-risk youth is a plus<\/li>\n<li>Eager to work hard, maintain a positive and proactive attitude, team player<\/li>\n<li>Be able to speak Spanish, preferred<\/li>\n<li>Be able to work 8-10 hours a week (meetings + class + after school tutoring if available)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Deadline<\/strong><br \/>\nOpen till filled &amp;
