Make-A-Wish Utah
The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

With the help of generous donors and volunteers, Make-A-Wish Utah grants over 160 wishes a year. Located in its facility in Murray, A Wishing Place, the Foundation offers a quality wish experience that includes a magical wish-making ceremony in the Wishing Tower, special wish tokens to throw in a wish fountain, and plenty of room for wish-granting celebrations. For more information, visit www.utah.wish.org.

Make-A-Wish is a well-known, respected non-profit organization that operates on a very low operating budget, so that 83% of donations go directly to help ‘wish’ families. They provide a very strong opportunity to build your resume and get rich, meaningful experience in the non-profit sector.

Make-A-Wish is accepting applications for the following fall semester positions:

  • Communications Intern (Public Relations opportunity; Press releases and Public Service Announcements; Update and maintain website content; Media liaison; Grant writing experience; Promotions & Fundraisers; Community calendars, etc.)
  • Development Intern (Development activities & programs; Donor research; Grant writing experience; Corporation/Foundation outreach, etc.)
  • Fundraising/Special Events Intern (Planning, promotion, solicitation, implementation, and evaluation of fundraising events & programs; Procurement of sponsorship, third-party events, auctions; tracking all events & activities; Relationship development with donors, event sponsors, vendors, guests, volunteers, hosts, etc.)
  • Program Services Intern (Accept & process referrals for new wish kids; Work with wish families on intake; Create unique itineraries for travel wishes)

Make-A-Wish Utah is located in Murray, UT, but the internships have flexible hours and option to do some work from home. Interns should plan to travel to the Murray office once or twice per week (and may be able to carpool). The building is beautiful and makes a unique and special experience for ‘wish’ families.
